Still saying nothing, but had a chuckle at this comment in reply to David Pleat's piece in today's Football Guardian:
"This may appear absurd, but I recall Malcolm Allison once suggesting that English footballers were basically morons and couldn't be taught subtlety and nuance..." [From someone going by the name of 'VanRamp']
The footballing blogs over the next few days are going to make Socialist Unity Blog look like a Croatian Tea Party.

Well McClaren's gone, so perhaps his swift departure will take some of the claws out of the bearpits.
One question I'm still grappling with, if England look so great on paper, why are they so crap in the field?
They're like the SWP. You read the flashy journals, you look at the discussion of new Marxist concepts, but when it comes to engaging with the working class, it hasn't a clue!

Ha ha ha. Very good.
I don't fancy Altrincham to win the Champions League any time soon, but it looks like they've as much chance as England winning the World Cup.
I'd much rather see Ireland win it, if I'm honest. Just because I've always loved the surreal.
I don't mean the Champions League. I meant the Premier Title (and then, maybe, the Champions League the following year for Altrincham ;-)
Do you remember that late night sports discussion programme Under the Moon, with Danny Kelly? I think it was on Channel 4.
I loved that show, and I remember one time John Parrott (Evertonian) was on the show he turned round and said that he wanted Everton to win the title, far more than he wanted England to win any cup. I think that's when that point struck me.
The blok
