Alan J over at the Mailstrom blog has a post on the ongoing writers' strike in the States, which has my worldview turned upside down: I've always liked Ellen Degeneres up to now but I've never really had much time for Mr Brooks.
But what about Garth Brooks and WalMart?

Stars from sitcom Friends, Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry joined the picket line. Perry said he was backing what was right.British actress Minnie Driver, who's currently starring in hit US show The Riches, insisted that the writers' arguments for a small share in web revenue from their shows is perfectly justified. Zach Braff, star of medical comedy Scrubs joined protesting writers on the picket lines and explained: "This isn't really about people like myself that have been so lucky and won the lottery and made a lot of money in this business, it's about the rank and file writers who're paying their mortgages with their residual cheque. We're out here to support them..."
Among the many actors who showed their support were the casts of Grey's Anatomy, Everyone Loves Raymond, Desperate Housewives, Scrubs and CSI.

Matthew Perry's currently playing a tv writer in the American TV series, 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip'. He's probably still in character. ;-)
Joking aside. It's nice to see some of the famous faces on the picket lines on the tv. It sounds trite but the fact that they're there has obviously raised the media profile of the strike. I mean, I've not seen any tv coverage about this seven week strike.
Maybe Fox TV and all those right wing foghorns are right about Hollywood being a hive of left-wing activity. We can only hope.
