Gattuso used to play for Glasgow R*ngers and Perrotta was born in Ashton-Under-Lyne; the same town as Geoff Hurst. That means, that if Italy were to win, a thousand articles on the '66 & '06 connection will bloom and I will wilt.
Gutted. Sick as a parrot. Jumpers for goalposts and other such footballing cliches were excised from my World Cup stream of cosnsciousness outpouring above.
However, a few sporting cliches still crept through the old onion bag to be found in the post.
Italy didn't deserve it,and I'm just glad that the pizzeria across road from me is closed today. I don't think I could handle them crowing, and not that I think about it I will have to boycott the local bagel place 'cos they have a picture of the Italian team in their front window. ;-)
