Yeah, but what about the other 114 films I've watched this year?

I think I try to go down a more selective route, although I do note your apparent unwilliness to try Book and Sword, or Book and Sword - the Final Battle. The first weighs in at 120 mins. The second at 2 dvds of 120 mins apiece. Wuxia takes stamina. And lots of popcorn. You do know that in Blighty you can be prosecuted for taking your own popcorn in to the cinema. or at least in Stockport, which apparently is part of the British jurisdiction.

If either film was on netflix instant, then they'd definitely be on my to-watch list, but getting a dvd through the mail requires a forward planning that's on a par with a small but vital military campaign.

Popcorn? Try not to eat popcorn at the best of times. One of those foods that always smell better than it tastes. I discovered that yesterday when we went to the cinema for the first time this year. Yep, watched a 115 films this year, and only one of those films have been at the cinema.

More fool me because I'd forgotten how much I liked going to the cinema.

In New York I always go to the Ziegfield Theatre to watch the films. (Translation; I was once stuck in New York on Christmas Day and went to that theatre to see the film of the musical of the film called the Producers. The audience clapped at the songs! And the Coca Cola was in buckets. And the popcorn in dustbin sized containers.)

PS Your Jimmy Bullard prediction went the way of the pear big time yesterday. Hull and Burnley join gallant Pompey in the Championship. Pompey have an interesting tactic, similar to that used by Liverpool when they won the European Cup - be so absolutely abysmal in the first half that your opponents are thinking about where they are going for a meal that night, which cinema to go to in New York, etc, that they simply stop playing. Then start playing. Well, it gets them the odd draw, and it might just be why they got to the cup final. Lets see if it works on Chelsea.

Yep, I have to hold my hands up to my Jimmy Bullard theory going pear shaped. I still think he's a talismanic figure on the pitch. Maybe he just didn't get the games.

I honestly thought Hull were good enough to stay up. Or, rather, I thought Wolves were too poor to stay up. Even at the last moment I was expecting Wolves to go into freefall. Just proves how much I know about these things.

I'd still pencil Wolves in for relegation 2010/2011.

Gutted to see Burnley go down. Maybe their sound finances means that they could be a yo-yo club like West Brom but I fear the better players from their squad will be picked clean during the summer and they won't be seen in the EPL again any time soon. (I'd be happy to be proven wrong on that one.)

With regards to next year's EPL, I'd love to see either Cardiff or Blackpool go up via the play offs. The ridiculousness of Blackpool in the top flight is just such a delicious thought.

On the other hand, if Forest were to go up it would scotch once and for all any suggestion that Davies might go to Parkhead.

My cousin's a Tangerines fan and doesn't want them up. Their problem is that they will likely meet Forest in the Semi and have already beaten them twice this season, and if you get in the Final of the play offs, anything can happen. Until around 1970 Blackpool were pretty regularly in the top flight, you know. But it does seem a hell of a long time back now.

Bullard was a killer move for Hull, I'm afraid. For reasons that were outlined at the Bolton shareholders's agm in late 2008 when our chairman was getting heat for not buying him. After spelling out the situation re wages, insurance/injuries , length of contract etc, he didn't get any more heat.

He doesn't want his team to go up? I don't get that at all. What's the point otherwise?

Fair enough if he's worried his club might do a Hull or a Portsmouth and overspend to the point of possible demise but I guess I'd want that one season in the sun, Even if it was filled with hammerings and a goal difference to make the eyes water.

Just follow the Burnley model and don't overspend.

I think he wants them to go up next season when their ground has four sides and the team is a tad stronger. Remember; they are a side most were predicting as relegation favourites last August. Mind you the pundits who do those predictions know very little when it comes to life outside the top 4.

BTW I reckon that on the basis of publicly available data Hull have paid £1 million per match for Jimmy B to date. If he plays 15 games for them in the Championship next season, it goes down to £500,000 per match.

In general, though, I'm with you. I only ever felt really nervous when Bolton went up once. On the Friday before the season started I groaned and thought - well here's the start of a long hard winter. I couldn't bring myself to listen to the scores as they happened on the big day. I got into Manchester and went to buy an Evening News. I heard we'd beaten Leicester 5-0 away. And we're still there. Funny isn't it?

"I think he wants them to go up next season when their ground has four sides and the team is a tad stronger. . . . "

I think he should take it when he can. What with Norwich and (possibly) Leeds will being in the Championship next season, I don't think it's guaranteed that Blackpool will get another chance like this season.
