'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For . . .'

News reports today mention that the rough cut of U2's next studio album has gone missing, presumed stolen, whilst the band were doing a photoshoot for the cover of the  proposed album. French police have issued the following description of a man they want to interview about the disappearance of the CD.*       * OK - It's a fair cop - the joke above is fifteen years out of date, but: 1) So are U2. 2) I had to post something to get back in the habit of blogging.

U2? Shite. No doubt about it.
But Simple Minds? Have had a listen recently to both Real to Real Cacophony (I know, shite title) and Sons and Fascination - true classics, by the way, and ahm no jokin! Well, that's my opinion, anyway.

Reidski - I agree with you. When Jim Kerr was still doing his David Bowie impersonation, Simple Minds were excellent. Songs such as 'Chelsea Girl', 'Love Song', 'Life In A Day' and the album 'New Gold Dream' are all classics. I even like half of the 'Sparkle In The Rain' album, but at some point Jim Kerr developed a mid-atlantic accent that would have had Sheena Easton commenting: "What a wanker - who does he think he is"; a social conscience that came courtesy of a trial subscription to the New Internationalist and a burning desire to be Bono's doppleganger. Not even the good Bono who made excellent albums like 'Boy'; 'October' and 'War' but the 'Joshua Tree' Bono - a guy with his head so far up his own arse that he had a mullet hair style inside his skull as well as on the outside.

How Jim Kerr could bring himself to write - never mind sing - songs like 'Belfast Child', 'Mandela Day' and 'She's A River' I will never know. No wonder he looks so sheepish in that mugshot I posted in the original message.
