I've attached the 'Hollywood Radicals' label to this post because of the screenwriters, a number of which who were caught up in the Hollywood Red Scare 10 years later. It's always fascinating to see these films that was supposedly 'Red' and/or 'subversive' years later. If anything, the politics are mildly pinkish. Browderism if anything, which makes sense for this period in American Communist Party history.

I'm only a quarter convinced that I've actually seen this before. There was this one scene where I was like, okay, that looks familiar. It may have been the case that I only actually saw that one scene in some sort of clip show from yesteryear, but I'll err on the side of caution.

I won't tell a lie: I have a bit of a crush on the late Ms Arthur, which makes me wonder why I haven't watched more of her films. Watch this space . . . maybe.
