Honkers

Posted the 8th August (late morning).

Honkers? What?

Lexulous made me do it. Not even my bingo. Someone else's. So why am I mentioning it? 'Cos the struck me. Why am I doing a poor imitation of David Peace? Not enough repetition for the full Peace experience.

Bingos were duly recorded

Christ, who will be President if and when I reach 10,000? Have they even been born yet?

26,000 in

A milestone or a millstone?

I'll let you decide. All I know is that when I first started playing Lexulous all those years ago, my brain was disintegrating into mush. I needed it then . . . and I still enjoy it now.

A milestone of sorts

My main motivation when playing lexulous these days is scoring bingos - face it, my win/loss ratio is never going to really shift in any significant way - so 7500 bingos is a milestone of sorts.

A nice, shiny round number. Pleasing to anoraks everywhere.

If you look closely, another nice, shiny round number is just around the corner. Stay tuned.

Creeping up

I only just noticed this wee stat . . . so it may have just happened or happened a week and a half ago. I just don't know.

What am I blathering about? Well, my win rate on Lexulous has crept up to 55%. The last time I have documented proof that it was up to 55% was this post from 2013. 12 years a slave to word games.(Yeah, I'm cringing too.)

What is about the number 55? That's my average in darts right now, and I've designated my 55th year on this planet as the time when I finally address all the drafts currently sitting neglected and shunned in my blog.

Oh, and fuck the R*ngers. 55, my arse.

Would I Lie To You?

115 points on Lexulous.

If you don't know what the word means, I advise you that you keep it that way. Don't google it.

I only know the word cos it once came up on an episode of Call My Bluff. I believe Joanna Lumley and Frank Muir were on the panel that day.

Funnily enough, the back story of me knowing what that word means is far more weird than the b/s story of the fragrant Ms Lumley or Mr Muir in his customary bow tie telling us in their dulcet tones what 'felching' is.

Get off the internet . . .

I keep scoring with the word 'taig' in Lexulous.

I think I've been around Rangers social media a bit too much these last few days . . .

A Placeholder of sorts . . .

. . . is that the right term? I never know about these things. I've been Lexulous for about 11 years now. It's the Facebook version of Scrabble. I seem to remember that I started playing it because I was coming down with a severe case of 'Baby Brain', and I needed some form of intellectual stimulation before my brains leaked out of my left ear. As the stats indicate, I am a decidedly average player. In my defence I don't cheat, and I know some -  though not all - of my opponents feel the need to cheat by using word generators. I'm passed caring at this point.

What's the point of the 'placeholder'? Well, I just finished my 16,000 game, which is a landmark of sorts and at this late stage I'm interested in bingos for some reason, so that at the start of each month I'll post a screen grab of my stats so I can keep track of them. Why the sudden interest now? I don't have a scooby. Just my latest wilo-the-wisp bullshit version of prevarication and procrastination.

Apologies for the garbled post. Now that I've placed the blog on private, I'm giving less of a shit about proof reading:

Addendum
Wow, look at this post from March of this year. Talk about repeating myself. Same patter and everything. Looks like the 'Baby Brain' never really went away, after all.

There's a word for that.

I seem to remember that I started playing Lexulous because I was suffering a really bad case of 'baby brain', and lack of sleep meant I could feel my brain seeping out of my ear each sleepless night. Eleven years on and I play Lexulous 'cos I can't be arsed to get the Scrabble board out:

Ya stoater

A triple score and 77 points for 'Steamie'. Thank you, Mr. Tony Roper.

I bet my American opponent is scratching his head in bemusement right now. "A fucking what? He just made that shit up".

Declaration of Purpose

An exiled SPGBer writes  . . .

I just knew all those decades of membership, with its attendant recitation of the D of P both morning and night - and four times on a Sunday - would finally result in a, erm, result:

Bingo, as Jack, Alex and Tommy used to say in the old Communist Club.
