Shelf Bores
When you finally get round to reading a book and, in the main, you are enjoying it and you then make the mistake of reading the reviews . . . and they are shitting all over it. Yeah, that.
The reviews are from when the book was originally published - 1978 - so I'll cut them some slack. And they are not totally shitting all over it. They like Price's way with dialogue and how he captures the nitty gritty of New York, but they've also pegged it as cliched.
And, as I'm reading nearly 40 years later, I'm obviously getting something different from it.
